Hi there. Recommending The Monte Carlo Cafe on Stapleton Road in Eastville, Bristol. This traditional cafe has been run by the same family for about 43 years. Real good grub with fantastic portions. Their chips are the real home made thing. Every thing is freshly cooked to order. You will be hard pushed to find a better, friendlier cafe in Bristol. They will be featured in BBC's Olive magazine sometime in May.... Watch this space.....now I'm hungry!

The recent news that celebrity chef Elisha Carter likes nothing more than chilling out over a fry-up in the Monte Carlo cafÃ© in Eastville comes as something of a surprise.

A surprise only because I didnât realise celebrity chefs had such good taste.

Michelin-starred Carter is clearly a chef who knows his onions, but naming the Monte Carlo as his favourite cafÃ© shows that he also knows his greasy spoons. The day after I first met my husband (over 5 years ago) we and about 15 friends descended on the Monte Carlo cafe for breakfast. 10 of them were vegetarian and german! The germans were so impressed, they took photos of the food and told everyone back in Berlin about how great the food and atmosphere there is.
When we got married, 20 people came over from Germany and had breakfast there. Somehow Monte Carlo managed to cater for all of them, plus loads of veggie breakfasts again.
Me and my husband had breakfast there 2 days after our wedding, and got a big congratulations from the staff (who know us by now!)
I live in Berlin with my husband and visit Bristol every 3 - 6 months to see family, and every time we come to Monte Carlo for Breakfast. They remember us everytime.
This time we took our new baby there, and were treated like visiting family.
Monte Carlo has seen me and my husband through lots of milestones, and we'll continue going there every time we're in Bristol - a great place, and great food!
